Susan EdwardsGreetings from Susan

Okay, I fully admit that this is not a recent  picture and that  it was taken earlier in my writing career but I like it.  I promise there are more recent pictures of me on my website .

One reason I like this photo is because it features my two oldest cats, Raven (on the left) and Wolf (on the right).  These are the two cats featured in my first contest,  where I asked readers to submit names for my kittens.  Hard to believe it's been nearly 9 years since they were tiny kittens.

I love animals.  I have 5 cats and one dog and a few caged birds. Each spring, we have a nest of swallows in our entry way and I love to watch the babies take flight.  Poor Wolf isn't allowed outside until the babies are able to fly high out of his reach.

To see my  animals, check out the photo gallery.  I love sharing my kitty and dog pics.  There are other pictures there as well.  Including me riding our atv.  What a fun time that is!  As long as the hills are not too steep that is!

I enjoy crafts of all sorts including quilting, sewing, cross stitch and knitting.  Knitting is my current passion and I am busy with after Christmas--some that were to be Christmas gifts!  I also enjoy gardening and have raised a variety of birds. Camping and fishing and riding our atv are among my outdoor pursuits.  I am, of course, an avid reader. I hate cooking and housework and love to listen to a wide variety of music, including Neil Diamond, Celtic, Native American, Classical, and mood music (bagpipes and howling wolves drive my family nuts).

I love to hear from my readers and I try to answer all my mail but sometimes it takes a while.  Be patient.  And check back here for the latest news of my books.

Bio

Susan sold her first book in 1995.  It was the first book she'd written and was a book of her heart.  Unlike many authors, Susan didn't write every day and neither had she written as a child or ever dreamed of writing.  But Susan has always been an incurable daydreamer.  As a child she wrote stories in her head. Whether it was playing with dolls or stuffed animals or her Barbie dolls, she created stories.  Many of her younger cousins were also expected to act out with her and her many childhood adventures.  Often, she spent days or weeks refining those stories before going on to a new story.  Sound like a writer?

Daydreams took the place of toys (and was a fine way to get through many boring classes in school) and again, those stories required many hours of retelling, correcting, and polishing.  Sounds like a writer, right?

Yes.  Susan later discovered that she was a writer.  Or Storyteller.  It wasn't until Susan was in her forties that she discovered that deep inside, there was a writer just waiting to put her stories down onto paper.  She started her first book in 1987.  Still, she never intended to write a complete book.  It was just something to do for fun as she couldn't find the type of book she wanted to read.

All she wanted was to write a scene.  Yes, a love scene.  But she quickly discovered that before two people could come together in love, she had to know who they were and what had brought them together.

The first 3 chapters of White Wind were born and thanks to a friend who told her to finish it and her sister-in-law, also a writer, who mentored her, she set out to write the rest of the book.  The rest as they say is history.

Too date, Susan has 11 books in her very successful White series and 1 book in her new SpiritWalker series.  Romantic Times nominated Susan for Western Hall of Fame and her third book, White Flame was a Romantic Times top pick!.

Other awards include Bookseller Best.
